Reimagining the Future of Student Mobility

Lack of transportation options shouldn’t keep students from accessing learning opportunities. It’s time to design a better way.

Every Community Has the Power to Transform How Students Get to School

For too long student transportation has been shaped by the constraints and needs of school districts and not the needs of the families and students they serve. Our work, supported by The Walton Family Foundation and Bellwether, seeks to help communities build student-centered systems that harness a range of coordinated transportation modes, from walking and biking to yellow buses and public transportation to private cars and van services.

Building Equitable, Connected, Collaborative Solutions

By evolving away from simply “yellow buses” and toward flexible, adaptable systems, we are expanding the idea of what student transportation can be so that no student is denied access to the education they deserve.

Creating Capacity for Change

No school or district or community does this alone. Our work prepares families, community members, advocacy groups, school leaders, and stakeholders from across the industry to collaborate on solutions that meet each students’ unique mobility needs.

4MATIV is Improving School Transportation

In 2018, we noticed that even as communities expanded school choice and schools moved away from one-size-fits-all learning models, transportation remained stuck delivering inadequate service and poor safety at an ever higher cost, especially for the most vulnerable.

4MATIV’s founders decided they could no longer stand by as the education landscape evolved and student transportation remained idle.

Since then, 4MATIV has set out to transform transportation from a liability into a school’s strongest asset.
